Zagaran is looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to join our growing team of software engineers and support development across many different software projects. While we currently work with a part-time design contractor, you would be the first full-time designer on the team. You would have the opportunity to work closely with software experts to craft intuitive, modern web applications.

We value collaboration, communication, and creative thinking, and we believe good design (from backend architecture to frontend flow) is the foundation for building state-of-the-art software. • Collaborating closely with software engineers to understand requirements, needs, and technical limitations
• Creating static mocks of software interfaces for desktop and mobile
• Creating dynamic, clickable prototypes in Figma (or equivalent)
• Designing for mobile and web applications at varying screen sizes (desktop, tablet, phone)
• Conducting user testing interviews and running UX focus groups on designs
• Occasionally creating attractive designs from scratch
• Occasionally creating attractive designs based on existing theme/brand guidelines
• Professionally styling documents and slide decks in Google Docs & Google Slides
• Designing or illustrating art assets such as icons and background images
• Attending requirements meetings with clients to understand their needs and use cases
• Thinking up some UX ideas about how to make software workflows or interfaces more intuitive or easier to use

• Experience with Figma (or equivalent)
• Have a UI design portfolio you can share with us
• Be fluent in English
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills
• Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to work 5 days a week in our downtown Boston office (live in Boston or be willing to relocate to Boston)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States (please note that Zagaran is unfortunately not able to sponsor work visas in the United States at this time)

• Experience professionally styling and editing layout in Google Docs and Google Slides
• Experience editing SVG files with Inkscape or similar
• Experience with CSS, HTML, React, SASS/SCSS, Bootstrap and/or Tailwind
• Experience with photo editing
• 1-4 years of experience working on software UI or UX design
• A degree in design or a related field
